US Forces Korea Commander asks for MRAPs in the US Senate.

According to The Chosun Ilbo, one of the major newspapers in South Korea, the U.S. Forces Korea will likely introduce up-to-date Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP). According to the Stars and Stripes, USFK Commander Gen. Burwell Bell expressed concern about the USFK's shortage of the up-armoured vehicles at a hearing in the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee on March 11.

Kennedy rebukes general Conway on MRAP request.

The commandant of the Marine Corps "misrepresented" the Corps' February 2005 request for armored vehicles to Congress and is unwilling to fix the way the Marines handle urgent pleas for new equipment, Sen. Edward Kennedy says in a letter to the commandant.

"Your mischaracterization of the request itself, coupled with your inaccurate testimony on the status of the Marine Corps order on the urgent needs request process, concerns me a great deal," Kennedy writes to the commandant.

According to Force Protection, General Conway paid a visit last july to Force Protection too, and stated to the Marine Corps Newst “I’m excited about the latest addition to Force Protection’s family of MRAP Vehicles, the Cheetah”.

And I wonder: Is the Cheetah an MRAP? It is not possible; it weights less than 7 tons.

Calling Cheetah an MRAP. The US DoD, Force Protection and the USMC commandant should be wrong. No idea about MRAP! Or not?

El comandante de las Fuerzas estadounidenses en Corea pide MRAP en el Senado.

Según el Chosun Ilbo, uno de los principales periódicos coreanos, las Fuerzas estadounidenses de Corea probablemente usarán pronto MRAPs. Según Star and Stripes, el General Bell expresó su preocupación sobre la falta de vehículos blindados en Corea ante el Comité de las FAS del Senado de los EEUU el pasado 11 de marzo.

El Senador de los EEUU Edward Kennedy reprende por escrito al General Conway por la solicitud de MRAP.

El Senador Kennedy en una carta dirigida al Comandante del Cuerpo de Marines de los EEUU le reprende por "tergiversar" la petición de vehículos blindados del USMC de febrero de 2005 al Congreso y por no colaborar en revisar el modo en que los Marines manejan las peticiones urgentes de nuevo equipamiento.

“Su mala interpretación de la petición, doblada por su impreciso testimonio sobre el estatus de la orden del Cuerpo sobre el proceso de petición de necesidades urgentes, me preocupa sobremanera” escribió Kennedy la General.

Gen. Cartwright visitó Force Protection y condujo un Cheetah.

El General de los Marines, James E Cartwright, vicepresidente del EMACON, visitó Force Protection Inc en Charleston, SC ,el 23 de enero de 2008. Cartwright visitó carias instalaciones para ver de primera mano cómo se fabrican y envían los MRAPs a las tropas e Irak.

Según Force Protection, el General Conway visitó también Force Protection en julio pasado y declaró a Marine Corps News: “Estoy encantado con la última aportación de Force Protection a su familia de MRAP, el Cheetah”

Y yo me pregunto: ¿Es el Cheetah un MRAP? No es posible, pesa menos de 7 toneladas.

LLamar al Cheetah un MRAP. El Departamento de Defensa, Force Protection y el Comandante de los Marines de los EEUU deben estar equivocados. ¡Qué sabrán ellos lo que son MRAP! ¿O sí?
